Kenneth Jerome Coveny

Age 91 of Aurora and formerly Kinsman and Morris, passed away Tuesday afternoon December 18, 2012 at home.

Born March 2, 1921 in Streator, Kenneth was a son of the late Lorenzo and Julia Curtin-Coveny. He was raised and educated in Kinsman and Mazon, and was a graduate of Mazon High School. Early in his career, Kenneth farmed, however later moved into various real estate ventures. Most notably he was known for working on Commonwealth Edison's land acquisitions for power plants. Kenneth will be remembered as a avid car racing fan.

Survivors include four children: Jeffrey Coveny of Lake Village, Arkansas, Deborah Ohr of Woodridge, Barbara Coveny-Silver (Samuel) of Atlanta, Georgia and Gary Coveny of Aurora; three grandchildren: Kenneth Ohr (Ryan), Christina Bentel (Anthony) and David Ohr; six great grandchildren: Arianna Bentel, Madison Bentel, Morgan Bentel, Nathan Ohr, Kenneth J. Ohr and Benjamin Ohr; one brother Raymond Coveny; one sister-in-law Kathleen Fox Coveny, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as special friends: Victoria Coveny and Ruth Grams.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Lorenzo and Julia Coveny, and two sisters: Monica Coveny and Geraldine Coveny.

Visitation will be held on Thursday December 20, 2012 between the hours of 4:00PM and 8:00PM at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 East Washington Street (one block East of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. Funeral services will follow Friday December 21st at 10:00AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 219 Emmett Street in Kinsman, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Reverend John J. Hornicak officiating. Burial will be in Saint Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Ransom and pallbearers will be: Jeffrey Coveny, Gary Coveny, Kenneth Ohr, David Ohr, Nathan Ohr and Anthony Bentel.
